{New} Home for the Holidays

Moving is always stressful, but I’ve learned firsthand over the last few weeks that moving at Christmastime is its own special brand of nerve racking.  We survived, though!  My boyfriend, JC, and I are now happily moved into our first home together, and we could not be more excited.  There are still countless projects to do, but we can breathe a little easier knowing that we made it past the first new home hurdle – the big move in – and we managed to have a very lovely Christmas amid the unpacked boxes and spackle-covered walls.

As this whirlwind of a December comes to an end, I am thinking ahead to all of the amazing projects and goals in store for us in 2014.  Now that we’re all moved in, I can’t wait to start putting our personal touches on the new house to really make it feel like home.  Some of our short-term plans involve overhauling the closets to maximize our storage options, giving the lackluster fireplace a much-needed facelift, and of course, painting, painting, and more painting!  As the budget allows, we’re also hoping to update the lighting and flooring throughout the house, modernize the kitchen, and find new furniture pieces to compliment some of the vintage gems we’ve collected over the past year.

We hung our stockings from the staircase, since the fireplace is currently surrounded by pink walls covered in spackle. Painting the living room will be one of the first projects to tackle in the new year.

In addition to the many home projects, I’m looking forward to pursuing some inspiring personal and professional goals this year.  I’m hoping to have the blog fully up and running soon after the New Year, and I can’t wait to start sharing my experiences, articles, and photographs with you.

How about you?  Have you set any special goals for the New Year?  What projects are you most excited to tackle in 2014?  Leave a comment – I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Holidays and warmest wishes for the New Year,

Megan
